On the afternoon of October 21st, Li Shouxin, Secretary of CPC Shandong University Committee, met with a seven-member commercial delegation led by Singapore's Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck. Sun Jianbo, Deputy Director of Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, and Vice President of Shandong University, Lou Hongxiang, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Li introduced SDU’s history, discipline strengths, scientific research characteristics, as well as the construction of Qingdao campus and its key disciplines.
He mentioned that SDU has always attached great importance to international exchange and cooperation and made a close communication with universities and colleges in Singapore. SDU has a friendly relationship with National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, which cooperated in the aspects of teacher exchange, student cultivation and joint scientific research.
Li expressed his hope that Teo Ser Luck’s visit will deepen his understanding of SDU and lay a good foundation of cooperation between SDU and Singapore’s universities and colleges.
Teo said that Singapore and China have a close relationship and Singapore’s universities and colleges have set up many collaborative platforms in China. He also hopes to promote more cooperation between Singapore and Shandong University in the future.
After the meeting, the delegates also visited SDU’s State Key Lab of Crystal Materials and the SDU Museum. Officials from International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board, and Nanyang Technological University, as well as SDU’s office, International Affairs Department, attended the relative activities.
