From February 28th to March 1st, over one hundred new international students from more than 30 countries, including South Korea, Russia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and Australia registered at Shandong University. They will start a new life here and learn about Chinese culture.
SDU international student enrollment is divided into spring semester and autumn semester, and focus on the later. This semester enrollment involves mostly Chinese Language Students, intercollegiate exchange students, and Confucius Institute Scholarship students.
In order to ensure that all international students were able to arrive safely and register smoothly, the Department of International Affairs, the College of International Education and the Information Office worked together. All aspects of the students’ arrival, such as their pick-up service, accommodation arrangements, the international student enrollment system and the registration process were well-prepared.
On the scene at registration, the staff was full of enthusiasm, and South Korean Students Union at SDU also carefully prepared a Korean version of the admissions process to help South Korean students with their registration.
Shortly after registration, the Department of International Affairs and the College of International Education held a freshman orientation for international students. They introduced campus life and guidance of curricula-variable to help the new students adapt to campus life as quickly as possible.
In recent years, Shandong University has actively developed a high-level of cooperation with universities abroad, and has gradually improved the level of international student recruitment, management, training and services, which has attracted more and more students from friendly colleges and universities come to SDU to study. The number of students from high-level colleges and universities, such as Leiden University in the Netherlands, Umea University in Sweden, and Thammasat University in the Thailand is increasing year by year. The arrival of international students promotes the diversification and internationalization of our campus and enhances the influence of SDU abroad.
