SDU Awards Honorary Professor to Japanese Political Critic Morita Minoru

On June 29, Zhang Rong, President of Shandong University, presented the Certificate of Honorary Professorship for Professor Morita Minoru, a renowned Japanese political critic, to honor him for his positive contribution to SDU. SDU Vice President Han Shenghao presided over the conferring ceremony.

"Prof. Morita is not only a renowned political critic, but also an academic scholar with rich academic culture", Zhang said, "We believed that the conferral the honorary professorship of SDU on Prof. Morita will promote the construction of the related disciplines."

Prof. Morita said that he studiedthe Analects of Confuciussince childhood, inspired by the Confucian thoughts, and is full of admiration for the ancient sages like Confucius and Mencius.

He stated that, having become an honorary professor and a member of SDU, he will make more efforts to promote exchange and cooperation between SDU and universities in Japan, and to promote cultural understanding between China and Japan.

After the ceremony, Prof. Morita also made a speech and answered questions from teachers and students in attendance.

Prior to the ceremony, Zhang met with the delegates, and outlined the development of SDU’s history and international exchange, especially the development of Qingdao Campus, the Global Consortium for Chinese Studies, the Sino-US Technology Innovation Park, and the Trilateral Cooperation Studies Center of Shandong University.
