From July 11th to 12th, the second International Education Management Conference, sponsored by Australia Education Management Group (AEMG) and Yunnan Normal University was held at Yunnan Normal University. Prof. Han Shenghao, President of Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW) attended this conference and delivered a speech. Prof. Chen Guanjun, Vice President of SDUW gave a keynote speech at the conference. Relevant staff from Office of Teaching Affairs, International Office, School of Mechanical, Electrical &Information Engineering and School of Business attended relevant activities.
Prof. Han pointed out in his address that the the construction of informatization is an effective means to drive the popularization and internationalization of higher education, as well as an important way to achieve leap development in higher education. He also said that”Cloud Campus” broadens the radiation scope and improves the efficiency of the work of a university, promotes the sharing of educational resources of high quality, builds a digitalized educational space for Chinese and foreign students and teachers and realizes the organic integration of effect, efficiency and benefit.
During the conference, Prof. Han discussed with Professor Ian Young, Vice Chancellor of Australian National University (ANU), and other representatives on how to promote the internationalization of education through educational informatization, and launched the "Cloud Campus Alliance" with ANU, Swinburne University of Technology (SUT), Southwest University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and representatives of other 9 domestic and foreign universities and institutions, which opened a new chapter for colleges and universities in China and Australia to conduct the educational mode of "Cloud Teaching".
At the conference, Prof. Chen Guanjun delivered a speech entitled "The Utilization of Sino-foreign Joint Education Programmes to Promote the Construction and Development of Teaching and Discipline in Colleges and Universities". He introduced positive role played by “introducing foreign high-quality curriculum system” in the internationalization of SDUW. Prof. Chen also met with Professor Sebastian Link, Deputy Minister of Faculty of Science of University of Auckland (UOA) and Professor Jeffery Smart, Vice-Chancellor of SUT separately and reached two cooperation programs, namely: the "2 + 2" double bachelor degree programme in biology and other fields and the "3 + 1 + 1" programme with UOA; exchange programme in digital media, the PhD joint training programme in physics and staff exchange programme with SUT.
The theme of this year’s conference is "The meaning and influence of international education cooperation on colleges and universities”, aiming to explore the informatization of education, management experience on international cooperation and practical method of international teaching and research. More than 200 representatives from over 20 universities from home and abroad attended this conference.
