The archaeologists from the Archaeology Department of the School of History and Culture of Shandong University and Shandong Provincial Relics Archaeological Institute launched an investigation in Daxin Village Site from March, 2010. The first phase ended in July the same year has made progresses of excavating an area of 900 square meters, discovering a batch of ruins and remains of the Shang Dynasty, unearthing some historical sites including a rammed earth structure, 200 ash pits, a well, a pottery kiln, 40 tombs and 2,000 specimens. The bronze tombs and rammed earth structure of the Shang Dynasty were the most important archaeological finds in this part of discovery.
Being dug from the same site where excavated the oracle bone inscriptions and noble cemeteries, the medium-sized grave of the Erligang Culture in early Shang period and the early-aged building ruins of the Yin Dynasty were acclaimed as another monumental archaeological finding. These findings proved once again that Daxin Village Site used to be the domination center of Shang Dynasty in its oriental strategic deployment. As a site of the highest specification in the eastern region of China, Daxin Village Site has prominent value and significance for archaeological study and historic research of the Shang Dynasty.
