The National Forum of the Post- doctor of History in 2015 was solemnly opened on the morning of August 23, as one parallel conference of 22nd International Congress of Historical Sciences. It was organized by National Postdoctoral Management Office of MOHRSS, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (CPSF), Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security of Shandong Province. Liu Lianjun, the Deputy Director of National Postdoctoral Management Office of MOHRSS, and Li Boping, the Deputy Director-General of Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security of Shandong Province, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. And Han shengjie, Party Committee Member and Vice President of Shandong University, addressed welcoming remarks.

Han Shenghao introduced the general situation of the postdoctoral work in Shandong University. He pointed out that, the holding of this Postdoctoral Forum is in parallel with The 22nd International Congress of Historical Sciences and the 30th anniversary of postdoctoral system, which is of extraordinary importance and significance. Through presenting the origin and improvement of postdoctoral system, the developing scale and disciplines of postdoctor, and the founding of enterprise post-doctoral scientific research workstation ， Liu Lianjun retrospected the development process of postdoctoral system. He stressed that the reformation of the postdoctoral work should attach importance to reforming the regime of postdoctoral system, enriching the sources and strengthening the education and assessment of postdoctor , allowing the postdoctoral system to be a incubator for cultivating high-caliber personnel and promoting the combination of industry, education, and research. Li Boping introduced the general situation of the postdoctoral work in Shandong province, and spoke highly of the excellent postdoctoral work of Shandong University. He encouraged the general postdoctors and scientific and technological workers to provide intellectual support and make efforts to the economic and social development in Shandong province and our country.

The forum centered on the theme of ‘History and the Contemporary China’ and divided into 8 sections, which will be discussed in the seminars on August 23rd and 24th. There are more than 10 guests participated in the forum and comment on the dissertations, to promote their publicity, such as Xu Xiuli, researcher of The Institute of Modern Chinese History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, chief editor of Modern Chinese Research and Wu Ying, Institute of World History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, subeditor of Study of Historical Theory. The 49 post-doctors who took part in the conference, came from more than 30 colleges and institutes, such as Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University and Nanjing University.

This forum is focused on exhibiting the great achievements of research work by Chinese’s history post doctorates, establishing the platforms for academic communications between the post doctorates and tutors, providing more opportunities of international communications for young scholars who attend the meeting, pushing the optimization of discipline systems, innovating academic viewpoints and research methods, and enables history to play a more active role not only in educating both ourselves and others, but serving the society as well.
