On November 10, the 7th Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum was held at Hanyang University in South Korea. SDU Vice President Hu Jinyan attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech. Hu also addressed the closing ceremony on behalf of SDU, the host of the 8th forum in 2016.
At the forum, Hu introduced the basic information about SDU. He mentioned that internationalization is the path and goal for SDU to construct a world-class university. SDU has formulated a series of training programs for internationalized high-quality talents and made clear about the dominant role of cultivating top innovative talents in education. Based on its regional culture advantages, SDU has built up a general education curriculum system with both leading disciplines and comprehensive advantages for the cultivation of top-notch talentsas well as innovative and entrepreneurial talents with high quality.
Under the theme "Opportunities and Challenges Facing Sino-Korean Higher Education in the Era of Globalization", participants carried out thorough discussions around three topics, "integrated talent cultivation", "university internationalization strategy" and "MOOCs and education innovation".
More than 100 representatives from 36 well-known universities of China (including Jilin University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, etc.) and South Korea (including Hanyang University, Sungkyunkwan University, Ewha Womans University, etc.) attended this forum.
Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum is an exchange platform for presidents of high level universities, and all participants are prominent universities in the two countries. The 1st Presidents Forum was held by South Korea University in 2007, after which it was hosted annually by Chinese and Korean universities in turn. The 8th Sino-Korean University Presidents Forum will be hosted by SDU in 2016.
During the stay in South Korea, Hu also visited their higher education consortium to discuss relevant issues about organizing "Shandong Forum" jointly. The two sides exchanged views on the scale and topics of the forum, as well as how to invite well-known scholars, etc..
