On December 31, the award ceremony for the 2015 Shandong University President's Scholarship and National Scholarship was held in Central Campus. Zhang Rong, President of SDU, attended the ceremony and presented certificates to the President's Scholarship winners.
President Zhang Rong addressed the ceremony
President Zhang Rong congratulated all the winners. He said that the President's Scholarship and National Scholarship are awards for the students' long-term efforts in all aspects. SDU is accepting and adapting itself to the new standards and requirements proposed by the country to become a world-class university and cultivate talents, with the final goal to nurture the students to be excellent, and support their growth and development. He noted that students are more "works" of their own than "products" of the university and teachers; they are both service recipients of the university and its partners in talent cultivation. Zhang hoped that all the students can achieve self-fulfillment through bearing social responsibilities, strive to be pacesetters of national development and revival with an international outlook, and become innovative talents who have the spirit of "makers". He encouraged the students to bear the three promises in mind, that is, promise for truth, promise for history and promise for the people.
