On December 30 and 31, 2015, two New Year concerts by SDU symphony orchestra were held at Sheng Kun Lun Music Hall, Central Campus and Shandong Grand Theater respectively. Zhang Rong, President of SDU, Zhang Yun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of SDU, Tong Xinghua, Chen Xiangyang, Cao Shengyuan and Liu Jianya, university leaders of SDU attended the concerts.



The concerts were conducted by the famous conductor Xu Xuemin, professor from the Fine Arts School of SDU. During the performance, the symphony orchestra presented a wide range of domestic and overseas classic music works with distinct characters, including well-known fragments of western symphonies and operas, theme music of influential animated films and representative works of original folk music of China.



The New Year concerts were organized by the Fine Arts School and open to teaching staff and students. SDU symphony orchestra, the chorus of the Fine Arts School and its faculty and students co-performed in the concert. The concert is held annually on New Year’s Eve, serving as an occasion when all teachers and students greet the New Year together.
