On January 4, Shandong University convened the first President Office Meeting of 2016 and approved the key discipline construction plan of "Discipline Peak Program".

The meeting decided to make three disciplines, including Chinese language and literature, mathematics, material sciences and engineering, the first batch of advantage disciplines in the "Discipline Peak Program", while the other 15 as the first characteristic disciplines in the program, including archaeology and history studies, political science, philosophy, economics, biology, physics, chemistry, space science and technology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, control science and engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, angiocardiopathy, reproductive medicine, and pharmacy.

According to the meeting, SDU would integrate academic strengths of the selected disciplines as soon as possible and makediscipline plans. The analysis and demonstration ofemerging interdisciplinary studiesalso should be timely launched.
