On October 10, Professor Volodymyr Turkevych, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Science (NAS)of Ukraine, and Head of Institute for Superhard Materials of NAS of Ukraine, joined Shandong University as honorary professor. SDU President Zhang Rong met with and awarded the letter of appointment to Professor Turkevych.

In the meeting, Zhang introduced what SDU has achieved in crystal material research and its current research interests. He said that Institute for Superhard Materials of NAS of Ukraine and the State Key Lab of Crystal Material of SDU share many similar research fields, he hoped both could strengthen cooperation in fields like wide-bandgap semiconductors and crystal epitaxial growth. He also believed that Professor Turkevych’s participation in SDU would definitely promote further cooperation.

Professor Turkevych congratulated SDU on its 115th anniversary, and spoke highly of SDU in its long history, favorable research conditions and top-level research teams. He also remarked that the Institute for Superhard Materials attaches importance to its cooperation between SDU and local enterprises in Jinan, and would like to provide technical supports for research in polycrystalline materials, etc..

Staffs from the Department of International Affairs and the State Key Lab of Crystal Material took part in this activity.
