Prof. Ye Ruian from SDU School of Foreign Languages and Literature was granted the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Russian Language Teaching in China in the celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of the Association of Chinese Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (ACTRLL)’s founding and the Third High-end Forum on Russian Discipline Construction in Chinese Colleges and Universities held at Peking University on November 19.
At the opening ceremony, the ACTRLL commended 25 senior scholars who have been devoted to Russian studies in China for more than 50 years, among whom 10 scholars won the Lifetime Achievement Award for Russian Language Teaching in China and 15 scholars including Prof. Ye won the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Russian Language Teaching in China. They were seen as eminent figures in the Russian language academia in China and valuable treasure of Chinese education according to the association, which also called on all junior scholars in the Russian language academia in China to follow the example of them to cultivate more talents for the country and make outstanding academic achievements.
Ye Ruian, born in June, 1935, is the professor and master’s supervisor of SDU School of Foreign Languages and Literature. He also served as former director of the Russian Language Teaching and Research Section and member of the Academic Committee of the school. After graduating from Beijing Foreign Languages Institute (now Beijing Foreign Studies University) with a master’s degree, he had been working, mainly engaged in Russian language teaching, in SDU School of Foreign Languages and Literature until retirement in 1995.
