On November 29, the Guided Peking Opera activity was held in Liyuan Theater, as part of the experiencing program designed to familiarize the SDU international students with the traditional Chinese cultures. More than 500 students from over 90 countries, including the ROK, Russia, the US, the UK and Germany, appreciated the Beijing Opera shows and learned the basic knowledge of the Chinese national treasure with delight. Zhang Guilin, Deputy Director-General of Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, Zhang Donglin, Head of the Department of Arts of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, Li Pingsheng, Head of the Department of Publicity of SDU, Xu Guanzhong, Head of College of International Education, as well as Zheng Shaohua, Head of the Shandong Provincial Jingju Theater were present.
The College of International Education of SDU attaches importance to the culture experiencing events held for the international students. Every year, the college open courses like Tea Culture, Calligraphy and Martial Arts in the Center for Research and Experience of Traditional Chinese Culture of SDU. The college has also designed a number of cultural activities covering a wide range of themes, such as Multicultural Festival, the Happy Chinese Stage, the Fun Chinese Language Contest and like, which have been warmly embraced by the overseas students.
