Recently, according to the latest statistics updated by the Clarivate Analytics, the SDU discipline Computer Science entered the top 1% in ESI. Hence, SDU has 16 disciplines now among the top 1% in ESI, which ranks 6th of all the universities in China.
Data show that 788 papers on Computer Science by SDU researchers have been cited 2830 times with an average citation of 3.59 times per paper. Up to 35741 SDU papers have been cited 325,246 times with an average citation of 9.10 times per paper, ranking 10th in China.
The sixteen disciplines that enter the top 1% in ESI include chemistry, physics, clinical medicine, material science, biology & biochemistry, engineering, molecular biology & genetics, pharmacology & toxicology, neuroscience & behavior, mathematics, immunology, environment/ecology, plant & animal science, computer science, agricultural science, and social science, general.
Essential Science Indicators, shortened as ESI, is a basic analysis and evaluation tool to measure the performance of scientific research and track the trend of scientific development. It is a quantitative analysis database based on more than ten million documents included in over 1100 academic journals all over the world from the department of Web of Science of Clarivate Analytics. At present, ESI has become one of the important evaluation indicators to evaluate the academic achievement and influence of universities, academic institutes, countries or regions. The whole database is divided into 22 disciplines covering tens of thousands of research institutes worldwide.
