Recently, Chinese Universities Alumni Association (CUAA) released 2017 Ranking of Chinese Universities Science and Technology Awards from the Ministry of Education, in which Shandong University ranked the seventh. According to the statistics, Shandong University was awarded 142 Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology), which include 44 First Prizes and 98 Second Prizes.
Ranking of Chinese Universities Science and Technology Awards from the Ministry of Education is released on the basis of the statistics of Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology) from the Ministry of Education, in which the universities as first author affiliations were calculated, in the year of 2000-2016 by CUAA.
The Awards is an important demonstrations of the scientific and technology research output by Chinese universities, which is of significance in science and technology only second to the National Science and Technology Awards. It is also one of the core evaluation index in “2017 CUAA-Universities Ranking of China”, which aims to show academic fruits in science and technology as well as innovation capacity of Chinese universities, with a view to providing decision reference in the construction of “Double First Rate”(First Rate University and First Rate Discipline Construction) universities in China. Thus It is a significant symbol in measuring knowledge-based invention, technological innovation and outcome transformation capacity of Chinese universities in the past 17 years.
The Team of CUAA-China University Evaluation has the longest history of consistent evaluation and innovation study of Chinese universities with over 30 years' experience in the universities' self-evaluation and social assessment. The first Comprehensive Universities Ranking of China was released by CUAA in 1989, and this year marks its 15th consecutive year of releasing the Universities Ranking of China.
