On February 28, the first plenary session of SDU International Student “The Belt and Road” Research Group was held on the central campus. Dahlia Patricia Sterling, an international Ph. D. student from Jamaica, hosted this conference as the President of the group. The Deputy Director of the Department of International Affairs Liu Mingli attended this conference.
The delegates discussed the assignment of responsibility of members from “B & R” academic committee and the organizing committee in the future. The preparatory work for the International Student “B & R” Cultural Forum was launched. From March, the Open Style Group Discussion Session is going to be open for more than 20 “B & R” research groups to help them share their respective outcome in different fields and put forward subjects of innovation that they are interested in. Finally, the committee decided that the plenary session would be held once a month to summarize the work and initiate new plans. The project leader Li Tianyi also attended the meeting.
In 2016, SDU international students established the first “B & R” research group in China, providing a platform for international students to study China’s development strategy. This group also helped them obtain their personal development opportunity and improve their capacity of academic and scientific research, coordination and organization, communication and self-expression. In the past few years, SDU has accelerated its procedure for international student education. To improve the education quality for international students, SDU is building a training system themed with "To experience the most profound culture and enjoy the greatest opportunity" with its own characteristics.
