Recently, Peng Shige, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Shandong University, received the National Innovation Pioneer Award jointly granted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
Peng Shige is the Professor of the School of Mathematics, SDU, doctoral supervisor, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Distinguished Professor recruited in the first batch of Changjiang Scholars Program. He is a renowned specialist in the study on probability theory, stochastic control and financial mathematics. He was awarded the second prize of the National Natural Science Award in 1995 and the honor of the “National Education System Model” given by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in 1998. In 2003 he received the top Science and Technology Award of Shandong Province, followed by the Tan Kah Kee Mathematical Science Award in 2008 and the Realistic Scientist Award in 2016. Professor Peng has made world-leading achievements in the fields of maximum principle of stochastic optimal control system, the theory of backward stochastic differential equations and the non-linear mathematical expectation theory. His academic excellence therefore is highly recognized, as his publications are widely cited by domestic and overseas experts. Since 2012, Professor Peng had been dedicated to the study of partial differential equation proposed by himself. This ground-breaking theory is expected to break the gap between the non-linear stochastic analysis and the partial differential equation, and will promote the development of the two important mathematical areas.
Along with the National Natural Science Award, the National Technology Invention Award and the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Innovation Pioneer Award is created in the recognition of outstanding contributions to scientific research, technology development, and social services made by outstanding scholars and research teams in China. It is announced every three years. This year witnessed 10 teams of medal winners, 28 medallions recipients and 254 merit certificate candidates.
