A convention was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University on December 19 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province.
Nearly 1,000 guests took part in the convention, including students and faculty members from Shandong University's Cheeloo College of Medicine, government officials, and alumni representatives and representatives from other colleges and universities.

Guo Xinli, top official of Shandong University, said that Cheeloo College of Medicine will focus on the "Healthy China" strategy in its future development, contribute more to the medical and health service and help promote the health and well-being of the people.
Jin Shengguo, inspector from the National Health and Family Planning Commission's health science, technology and education department, said that Cheeloo College of Medicine is one of the leading and old-line brands of domestic medical education. It has cultivated a large number of medical personnel and lots of trailblazers in the country's medical field.

Cao Xuetao, president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, said that this year also marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Peking Union Medical College.
Cao added that teachers and students from Peking Union Medical College and Cheeloo College of Medicine have always shared close exchanges, frequent academic exchanges and cooperation.
Robert Vink, vice president of University of South Australia, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Cheeloo College of Medicine.
"We have built the China-Australia Centre for Health Sciences Research with Shandong University as our only strategic cooperation center in China. We value the cooperation with Cheeloo College of Medicine very highly and we hope that the two sides will jointly enhance exchanges and cooperation in a bid to make new achievements in medical education," said Vink.
