Abstract:

Solving Poisson equations plays an important role in various computer graphics tasks, such as image composition, surface reconstruction, vector field design, just name a few.Traditional solvers, such as the finite element method (FEM), provide numerical solutions only. In this project, we are interested in solving Poisson equations with piece wise constant Laplacians. We show that this special type of Poisson equation has a closed-form solution, which are represented by harmonic B-splines. We demonstrate our closed-form solver on 2D/3D Poisson vector graphics, a new type of vector graphics that overcomes the limitations of the existing first- and second-order diffusion curve images.
