Abstract:

The dramatic evolution of wireless technologies to 5G and their fast convergence with diverse applications signify the ongoing industrial and societal revolution. With the dramatically growing data traffic, massive connected devices and diverse services to be supported, the future success of our networked society and smart cities relies heavily on intelligent communication capabilities in the overcoming the data challenges from people, society and industry. The focus of this talk is to analyze the need for intelligent 5G and beyond communications, identify the essential key enabling technologies, and present our ongoing research and activities in the related areas. Specifically, this talk will cover the following aspects: i) Motivation and technical nature of intelligent wireless communications, i.e. objective-oriented interconnection and integration of data, knowledge and capabilities; ii) Key technical aspects of intelligent 5G communications; and iii) Future development of intelligent wireless communications and their applications in smart cities.
