The contest was hosted by the Translators Association of China, jointly undertaken by the Translators Association of Shandong Province, SUNTHER Consulting Co., Ltd., and School of Foreign Languages at Shandong Normal University. The contest drew more than 70 contestants from over 25 colleges and universities in Shandong Province, including Shandong University, Ocean University of China, Qingdao University, Shandong Normal University, Shandong University of Finance and Economics, and Shandong Jiaotong University.
The Shandong University Team won the Best Organization Award. Hou Pingping, who led the team, was recognized as an “Excellent Instructor”. Student Jiang Yu won the first prize of the contest. Students Mao Dan and Bian Shaolei won the third prize, which means they qualified for the east regional final to be held in Nanjing in April, 2012.
In order to select the best students to take part in the provincial competition, SDU’s School of Foreign Languages and Literature organized its own in-house tournament. The test contained professional knowledge, psychological qualities and strain capacities. The top three winners are all the students from the Translation Master Program (MTI) of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature.
