Shandong University, or SDU, recently announced a proposed project list of general core curricula for 2021, in which 150 courses were selected.

This is reportedly also a new round of major upgrades of general education curricula – updating the first batch which was approved in 2010 – marking SDU officially ushering in the general education 2.0 era.

The general education 2.0 system, based on the characteristics of SDU, will center on boosting students' knowledge reserves and improving students' comprehensive qualities.

The new courses are in seven areas – Chinese traditional literature culture, art aesthetic, humanities, social sciences, engineering and technology, natural sciences and the information society.

It has taken about three years to set up the nearly 100 general education curricula.
