Our museum developed from the specimen room of the Department of Archaeology and opened in 1995. Our museum enjoys an abundant variety of collections. There are currently more than 40,000 pieces(sets) of collections, 17,000 of which are cultural relics, including ceramics, porcelains, bronzes, gold and silver wares, stone and jade wares, oracles, tiles, tombstones, coins, calligraphy and paintings. More than 300 of them are listed as valuable cultural relics.
Shandong University Museum is located in Block A of Zhixin Building, Central Campus. The exhibition hall of the museum, which occupies over 2,000 square meters, consists of three parts: cultural relics exhibition part、art calligraphy and painting art exhibition part and special themed part.
The new Museum of Shandong University based in Qingdao campus is located by the beautiful Aoshan Bay. As the largest single university museum in China it takes over 40,800 square meters with six floor and about 9,000 square meters area for exhibiting.
